CE Course Description

Laws and ethics permeate all services licensed professionals offer.  They give the consumer protection and a set of expectations in the services they receive.  They concurrently provide a road map for the professional healthcare practitioner.  This course is designed to reinforce the legal and ethical responsibilities of the professional healthcare practitioner. 

This course is an online, non-interactive, reading based, self-paced, and asynchronous course.

CE Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:
  • Discuss current laws and ethics in practicing general counseling principles.
  • Apply ethical principles in practice with an awareness of the ethics associated with your specific profession.
  • Discuss the complexities of ethical dilemmas and apply a framework for dealing with these complexities.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Maintain self-awareness and manage transference and counter-transference issues.
  • Apply the laws and ethics regarding reporting requirements, i.e. child abuse,elderly abuse, plan to harm self or others, Tarasoff etc.
  • Discuss HIPPAA regulations and how to apply them in practice.
